Annie Claire Rosetta Price Carter, known affectionately as "AC," passed away on October 20, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on April 24, 1944, in Union City, Tennessee, she spent her final years in Gary, Indiana, where she was a beloved figure in her community.
Annie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing the role of caregiver to her family, particularly her great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly referred to as her "GG's." She found joy in praying and attending church, where she served as the Church Mother of ICCM and shared her unwavering faith with those around her. Annie’s home was a sanctuary for many, always open to friends and family, embodying a spirit of love and acceptance that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Annie's creativity shone through in her hobbies, which included sewing, quilting, and doodling. She was known for her delicious fish dishes and had a deep appreciation for gospel music, especially the works of Shirley Caesar and Albertina Walker.
Annie was the daughter of JC Price and Elizabeth Beckett Price and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Climmie Carter. She was the cherished sibling of Blanche Clark, Mary Dean (John), Gloria Jones (Joseph), Jonnie Grayson, Francis Winter (Willie), Lawrance Price (Sandra), Linda Smith, JC Price (Sandra), Velma Barnett, Delmas Price, and Patricia.
She was the proud mother of Pamela Carter Williams (Patrick), Climmie Carter (Towanda), Gregory Carter, Donnie Carter (April), Erik Carter, Carl Cater (Katrina), Kenneth Carter, and Treshanda Carter Watkins (Calvin), and the adoring grandmother of 24 grandchildren.
Annie’s legacy is one of unconditional love and strength, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends. She held fast to her faith until the end, finding solace in the simplest joys of life. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
