Andrew James White, known affectionately as Andy, was born on October 31, 1952, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He passed away on September 19, 2024, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he had made his home in recent years.
Andy was a talented CAD Engineer, having had a distinguished career designing tools and kitchen appliances for companies such as Black & Decker, Dewalt, Frigidaire, and Viking. His creative spirit extended beyond his profession, as he enjoyed woodworking and had a small engine repair business, often spending weekends fixing lawn care equipment or working on cars. His love for the outdoors found him most at home in the mountains, particularly in his favorite place, Highlands, North Carolina.
He was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment spent with his daughters, Gloria Verona and Cora White, and his four grandchildren: Alex Baxter, her husband Joshua Baxter, James Brehm, Syndney Vergona, and Cadyn McKinney. Andy often expressed that having a daughter was the greatest joy of his life, followed closely by his marriage to the late Doris White.
A passionate sports fan, Andy loved basketball, football, and NASCAR, and was an avid follower of Dire Straits, Phil Collins, Nickelback, and the Rolling Stones. He found pleasure in simple joys, relishing crab cakes, ribs, twice-baked potatoes, good steaks, and a pot of pinto beans with ham hock. His lighthearted nature and goofy spirit made him a beloved figure in his community, where he actively participated in neighborhood watch programs.
Andy is remembered for his fierce work ethic, spontaneity, and a loving personality that endeared him to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and cherished memories.
There will be an arrangement at home in the coming weeks that will be a memorial service/ celebration of life. The date below is an estimated time frame.
