We gather today with heavy but grateful hearts to honor the life of Mr. Alfred Jenkins—a man who was deeply and truly loved.
Alfred was an outgoing soul who spoke his mind without hesitation. He wasn’t the richest man by any measure of money, but he was rich in the ways that truly matter. If he saw a stranger in need, Alfred would take the shirt off his back to keep them warm. That was simply who he was—generous to the core, with a heart that never calculated the cost of kindness.
He found peace and happiness in the simple things he loved most. You could often find him with a line in the water, fishing the Mississippi or the Gulf, soaking in the quiet beauty of the day. And when he wasn’t on the water, his heart was with the Alabama Crimson Tide. If you knew Alfred, you knew he loved his Tide—loudly, proudly, and with the kind of loyalty that never faded.
Mr. Jenkins is survived by a cherished family and a treasured circle of grandchildren. From Ms. Stacey Johnson, the eldest, whose loving hands arranged this beautiful service with such care, to Ms. Tamika Kendrick, Ellise Gaulden, and Krystal Blair—each of them carries a piece of him forward.
In the laughter of his grandchildren, in the generosity he modeled, in every story of a fish caught and every cheer for the Tide, Alfred lives on. He may no longer walk beside us, but the love he gave so freely remains—steady, lasting, and forever held by those who called him theirs.
May we honor him not only in our tears, but in the way we continue to speak our minds, give freely, and love one another the way he loved us.
Rest well, Alfred. You were, and always will be, deeply loved.
Roll Tide.
