Albert “Al” Lewis Neelsen, lovingly known as Al, passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 77. With his children Melissa, Scott and Jason by his side. He was born on August 17, 1946, in Highland Park, MI. And grew up in Ferndale, MI. Graduating from Hazel Park High School. Al most recently resided in Mesa, AZ, where he found solace and contentment in the warm desert climate.
Al dedicated his career to the manufacturing field, showcasing his skills and expertise. His unwavering commitment and passion for his work left an indelible mark on those he worked with.
One of Al’s greatest joys in life was his beloved mother, who served as his guardian angel. She was his favorite person, and her presence brought him immense comfort and happiness until her passing. Al is preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Ardis Neelsen along with his 2 siblings Alan Neelsen and Rebecca Neelsen-Henderson.
Al leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his children, Mike, Melissa, Scott, and Jason, who will cherish his memory forever. Additionally, he leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one a testament to his deep commitment to his family.
In addition to his immediate family, Al had two dear friends, Jack Wilson and Kim Wilson-Sunde, who were like family to him. Their bond was unbreakable, and their friendship brought happiness and laughter into Al's life.
If you knew Al, you knew of his care for his cars. Upon moving to Mesa, he took his passion to another level, lavishing his vehicles with daily attention. His pride in his cars was evident to all. Al also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events as often as possible. With the Detroit Tigers being at the top of his favorites. In his last days his sons, Jason and Scott had the pleasure of listening to one last Tigers game as they sat by Al’s side.
Al will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication, and love for his family and cars. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
The family will be having a small gathering in honor of Al on June 29, 2024
