Than being outdoors. He was an amazing photographer. I belive Lost Lake, Crater Lake, and Celio Falls were some of his favorite spots
He was a surveyor for the city of Portland for 20+ years.
Dad sure loved his ice cream. Vanilla was his favorite. He could eat that like it was going out of style.
Alan was born August 3rd 1936 to father Audubon Winans and mother Alice Rosetta Merreill
His favorite place in the world. Was out in nature where he could photograph God's beauty.
Alan left behind a brother Carl Winans and his Wife Margie Winans
Alan has also left behind 4 Grand children. Aaron Jacob Winans, Amber Elizabeth Brown, Brian Wayne Riggleman and Brandy May Mosier
Alan has 3 surviving children. Glen Alan Winans, Debra May Hendrickson and Roger Niel Winans
Alan Winans, born on August 3, 1936, in Hood River, Oregon, passed away on September 19, 2024, in his beloved hometown. He was the cherished son of Audubon Winans and Alice Rosetta Merreill and was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Shirley May Proctor, whom he married on March 21, 1965.
Alan dedicated over 20 years of his life to serving as a surveyor for the city of Portland. Known for his profound love of the outdoors, he found joy and inspiration in nature, often capturing its beauty through his remarkable photography. Some of his favorite locations included Lost Lake, Crater Lake, and Celio Falls, where he felt most at home.
Alan's love for life extended to simple pleasures, such as his favorite vanilla ice cream, which he enjoyed immensely. He was a devoted father to three children: Glen Alan Winans, Debra May Hendrickson, and Roger Niel Winans. He also leaves behind a loving brother, Carl Winans, and sister-in-law, Margie Winans. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Aaron Jacob Winans, Amber Elizabeth Brown, Brian Wayne Riggleman, and Brandy May Mosier.
A Southern Baptist, Alan was an active member of the Tucker Road Baptist Church, where he embraced his faith and community. He will be remembered for his kindness, passion for photography, and deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. Alan Winans will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
