Alan George Godin, 78, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Jasper, Georgia where they have resided since 2001.
Born on November 3, 1946, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He grew up in nearby New Baltimore.
Al met the love of his life, Pamela in 1965. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1966.
Al and Pamela couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. All grown up now Tracy Green (husband Jerry) and Dawn Nold (husband Joe) were always the sparkle in his eye.
Al lived a life marked by his dedication to his work, service to his community, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He spent his professional career with Magnetic Analysis Corporation, where he contributed his skills, loyalty and commitment over 45 years.
Al had a strong sense of civic duty and generously gave his time as a volunteer firefighter where he served as Chief of the Bethany Salem Fire Department for several years, where his leadership and devotion left a lasting impact on those he worked alongside.
Al would not say “No” to helping anyone, partly because he couldn’t sit still, but mainly because he had the biggest heart in the world. There isn’t anything that would stop him from helping someone in need.
An avid outdoorsman, Al found joy in nature. Whether chasing elk in Colorado, or engaging in recreational activities under open skies, he embraced every opportunity to be outside. These passions were not just hobbies but an essential part of who he was.
Al’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured his time with their grandkids and loved being their Papa, never failing to drop anything to spend time with them, including work, where his “shadows” were often seen riding on four wheelers and the tractor. He will be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren (Carisa, Chad, Shea, Skyler and Starr) and his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Pamela of 59 years; his brother Chum, and his sisters Barbie and Penny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Helen, and his brother Michael.
Al’s legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing.
