Obituary

Kia Fox, 75, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully from natural causes. Kia was born on September 2, 1998, and remained a lifelong resident of Chicago. It was the city where she grew up, built her career, raised her family, and created a life that she was proud of.

Kia attended George Manierre Elementary School and Lincoln Park High School. She continued her education at Ultimate Medical Academy, where she earned her Associate degree in Human and Health Services. She later attended the University of the Cumberlands and earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services. Education was important to Kia because she believed in continuing to grow and creating better opportunities for herself and her family.

Kia spent much of her professional life with Chick-fil-A. Through years of hard work, leadership, and dedication, she eventually accomplished one of her biggest career goals by becoming a Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator. In this role, she used her leadership skills to develop others, build strong teams, and create opportunities for those around her. She took pride in her career and everything she accomplished along the way.

Outside of work, Kia had a special love for animals, especially cats. She spent time working at her local cat shelter, helping care for animals in need and helping them find loving homes. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, relaxing at home, and making memories with the people closest to her.

Kia shared her life with her loving husband, Deshawn, and together they raised two children. She leaves behind her husband and children, her brothers Kevin and Eric, affectionately known as “Bear,” and her sisters Tiana, Tamara, Keva, and Zurai. Family was extremely important to Kia, and she always wanted the people she loved to know how much they meant to her.

Kia will be remembered for her strong personality, sense of humor, determination, love for her family, and willingness to help others. She lived a life centered around family, growth, success, and giving back. More than anything, she hoped the people closest to her would remember the memories and laughter they shared together.

In accordance with Kia’s wishes, she will be cremated following her memorial service. She requested that her family celebrate the life she lived rather than focus only on her passing. After all final expenses are handled, Kia wished for the remaining funds from her estate to be divided equally among her husband, Deshawn, her two children, and her brother Eric.
