Obituary

Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajeeoon "From Him do we come and unto Him do we return"

Dr. Adel Ali El-Magrabi of Novi, Michigan, met his Khaliq (maker) on February 7, 2023, age 91 in his home, after a long-term battle with Parkinson’s disease.  He is survived by his loving wife, Hilary, and children, Nadia (Adam) and Peter (Colleen), as well as his four grandchildren, Isabel and Henry Elmagrabi, and Gavin and Liam Moceri.

Born on September 2, 1931, in Alexandria, Egypt, he was the first of 7 children. He grew up in Cairo before he moved to England in 1968, and after obtaining his LRCP certification, went to work in various parts of England and Wales.

It was in Cardiff, Wales in 1969 that he met his wife, Hilary.  They were married in 1970 and spent four more years in England before moving to the United States, where the Rehabilitation Institute of Detroit held out a welcoming hand.  He worked at the Rehabilitation Institute from 1974 to 1990, after which he opened his private practice in the Detroit Medical Center and worked there until retiring in 2010.

He and Hilary enjoyed traveling and joined the “Nomads” in 2000.  They took trips to many parts of the world.  His favorite trip was to Botswana, where they stayed in three safari camps, seeing the animals in their own habitat.

He enjoyed meeting with friends and hosting New Year’s Eve parties and other get-togethers with his children and four grandchildren.

May Allah shower Brother Adel his choicest of blessings on his soul and grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus “Heaven”, Ameen.
