Obituary

Dearest reader,

It is with the heaviest heart, which I write to inform you of the untimely passing of Addison Alexandria of Colorado US.

On October, 11th of 2024, Addison Alexandria Crost went to the Great Spirit, peacefully in her sleep, due to the cruel and unforgiving cold of the Saskatchewan fall.

Born on October, 5th of 2000, in the small town of Newport City, Vermont US, Addison passed away just days after her twenty-fourth birthday.

Survived by her loving partner, Celeste Taylor, mother Janice Hess, and sister (who Addison often said practically raised her) Katelyn Couillard, Addison Alexandria Crost was loved by all who knew her, touched many of the lives of those around her, and was a force to be reckoned with, if anyone dared to spread hate or unkindness in her presence. Addison was a bright light in this dark world; a true beacon of love and hope.

Not long before her passing, Addison had launched a portrait photography studio in Colorado USA, named “Gender Crost Studios.” This project was a testament to the ultimate acceptance and kindness that Addison preached. She was often described by friends as “aloof” and “carefree.” Addison embraced that identity and took those to be words of affirmation. Growing up the way that she had, she never wanted to impose those same ideas of perfection and tidiness that had crushed her childhood spirit, onto those she cared about now.

In the few days I got to know her, she talked ad nauseam, with the upmost love and admiration for Celeste Taylor, Addison’s final and truest love. Addison dreamed of immigrating to Canada, to start a new life with Celeste, away from the growing number of challenges queer folk were experiencing in the states. Addison did make it to Canada in the end, sadly without her love at her side (although always with her in spirit). While her earthly stay here in Regina, Saskatchewan may have been short, she will forever be at rest here in Canada; home at last and forevermore.
