Obituary

Abel “Apache” Terrazas, 52, of DelSol, passed away on May 30, 2026. Born with a fearless spirit and a generous heart, Abel was a proud son of the South Bay who made friends everywhere he went. He was the one who could turn a hard day into a lighter one with a joke, a quick grin, and the kind of presence that filled a room. To many he was “Apache,” a name that fit his strength and loyalty; to those who loved him most, he was simply Abel — a jokester, a protector, and a kind soul who showed up when it mattered.

DelSol was home, not just a place on the map. You could find him near the water, swapping stories, looking out for neighbors, and making sure no one was left out. He carried himself with edge and swagger, but beneath it all was a tender-hearted man who loved his family fiercely and gave without keeping score. He knew life’s rough edges and still chose to be kind — that was his quiet greatness.

Abel is survived by Breanna, Jesus, Linda, and Carlos; and by many extended family members and friends who became family along the way. He is also held in the hearts of Breanna, Alyssa, and Angel, who will forever remember his humor, his guidance, and the way he could make them feel safe and seen. He was preceded in spirit by loved ones who welcomed him home.

Those who knew Abel will remember the sound of his laugh, the way he could make a crowd erupt with one line, and the steady loyalty he offered without asking for anything back. He wasn’t perfect — none of us are — but he met the world with courage, love, and a willingness to be real. His memory lives on in every shared story, every inside joke, and every small act of kindness done in his name.

Services to honor Apache’s life will be held as follows:

  • Viewing: Friday, June 26, 2026, from 3:00–11:00 p.m. at 640 10th Street, Imperial Beach, CA 91932.

  • Mass: Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at St. Michael, 2643 Homedale Street, San Diego, CA 92139.

  • Funeral service: Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross, 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego, CA 92102.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes your prayers, your stories, and your presence. If you wish to honor Abel, do something kind for someone who needs it, tell a joke that breaks the ice, and take care of your people — that’s the way he lived.

Rest easy, Apache. Your love and laughter stay with us always.
