John Phillip Woods, affectionately known as Pete, was born on March 30, 1938, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He peacefully passed away on April 19, 2024, in San Diego, California.

Pete enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as going out to eat breakfast with his loved ones and watching Western movies. He had a particular fondness for soul food and was a fan of oldies and jazz music. In his spare time, he loved to admire Cadillac cars.

Known for his generous spirit, Pete was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He would open up his home to anyone who required a place to stay. His kindheartedness and willingness to assist others will be remembered by all who knew him.

Pete had a passion for watching Western movies and was a devoted fan of the Lakers basketball team and the Raiders football team. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races.

Proudly serving his country, Pete altered his Birth Certificate and joined the military at the age of 16. He was a distinguished veteran and took great pride in his service.

Pete leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his three goddaughters, one son-in-law, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, who will cherish their memories of him.

Pete held strong religious beliefs as a Catholic, finding solace and strength in his faith.

John Phillip Woods, or Pete, will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to his loved ones and country.
